IT CONSULTING

  • IT Strategy – The formulation of an IT Strategy address the question of how should an organization guide the development, operating model, and investment in its IT function for the next three to five years in order to achieve alignment with the corporate strategy.  The development of an IT strategy is based upon consideration of a client’s business strategy, the corporate organizational structure, the overall profile if its human resources, the operational processes that support the value chain, and the current IT portfolio.  Synapsis assists clients in evaluating the strategic effectiveness of its IT function and formulating an IT strategy that will be adopted by senior management.

  • Project Management – The key to effective project management is devising a planning, execution, control, and measurement system that can bring about the desired results for a project.  The project manager should also ensure that all key stakeholders in the project are involved from the beginning and informed as the project progresses.  Synapsis assists clients in managing their projects, implementing a centralized project management control function (Project Management Office), and evaluating the effectiveness of their project management function.

  • IT Service Management (ITSM) – One of the emerging trends in IT is conceptualizing the IT function as a service provider to internal and external clients.  ITSM is primarily a management philosophy where the IT department’s activities can be broken down into interrelated processes that can be characterized, measured, and improved to the benefit of the business.  In essence, ITSM addresses the goals of cost reduction, reduction in unplanned downtime, and aligning the IT department’s priorities with the rest of the business.  Synapsis assists clients in developing their ITSM capabilities through the adoption of best practices such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), as well as evaluating internal controls in the IT function through frameworks such as Control Objectives for IT (CObIT).

  • Business Intelligence (BI) – These services focus on unleashing the value of corporate data by combining data from a variety of sources and providing users the ability to aggregate, visualize, and analyze data according to the needs of their job role.  BI initiatives can take a number of forms, depending on whether the data to be analyzed is related to a department or business unit within the business or whether all corporate data is to be analyzed.  Synapsis assists clients in defining a strategy or roadmap for BI implementation, as well as planning, defining, developing, and implementing BI projects.

  • Staff Enhancement – Recruiting, selecting, and hiring IT staff is an emerging challenge for all organizations, particularly given the high expectations placed on new personnel, the uncertainty of the length of the hiring cycle, and the reality that the skills mix and amount of IT staff required in an organization may vary over time.  Synapsis provides clients the ability to enhance their IT staff with skilled personnel for a pre-defined period of time, and to obtain assistance in recruiting and hiring professionals for their internal IT function.
